Does Makeup Primer Go On First
I know I say this all the time, merely that's because it's freakin' true! — it really does take a village, so to speak, when you're trying to do the whole shine/flawless skin thing, or as shut as you tin can go to it.
Oh, my goodness, yes, information technology would be SO overnice if information technology were possible to do it all in one easy footstep, but that hasn't been my experience. There are lots of steps involved in getting as shut every bit possible to perfect-looking pare for me, and it takes a lot of work, especially upfront prep work at the beginning of the process.
But here's something that helps, and I always practise it, without fail: I always apply moisturizer before my face primer.
When I do, my skin looks smoother, my makeup lasts longer, and everything I apply on top of moisturized skin just seems to piece of work better.
I really don't know why… Possibly the moisturizer plumps the skin and makes any I employ on top of it look smoother. Colors too look richer and more intense.
Hither'due south my bones process…
Step one: Moisturize
First, I moisturize, and information technology's the first step when I'm applying my makeup (before this, however, right after washing my face in the morning, I utilise any skin serums and products with SPF).
My combination skin is more dry than oily (just it's also oily on my forehead and around my nose and mentum), so I reach for rich moisturizers, and I similar ones that don't comprise SPF, in this instance, to avert the telltale white cast that tin can happen when you mix SPF-containing products and wink photography. I as well like moisturizers that don't pill or dodder when I apply other products on peak of them.
Once my face is fully moisturized, I give the moisturizer plenty time to fully absorb and sink in, which is usually effectually five minutes. Notation: this stride is very, VERY important because if the moisturizer is still wet in spots, products practical on top of information technology won't last as long as they should/could.
Stride 2: Blot
Adjacent, only to be rubber, I'll blot my pare with a tissue or paper towel to lift away any equally yet unabsorbed moisturizer.
Footstep three: Prime number
At present it's time to prime. It goes correct on tiptop of my moisturized skin, and and then I also give that enough fourth dimension to prepare (most another five minutes).
While I'chiliad waiting, I'll exercise other things, like fill in my brows, fix my pilus or harass my true cat. 🙂
Finally, I put on my foundation, concealer, pulverisation and all that fun stuff.
I know it sounds like a lot piece of work, and it is, so I don't practice it when I'm super insanely pressed for fourth dimension (instead, I'll merely mist my face with Gear up+ and apply primer on peak), but I actually do think it makes a big difference in the manner my skin looks when I wear makeup.
